常盤小学校

常盤小学校は明治６年に開校し、現在使用されている建物は、関東大震災を機に、耐震・耐火性の高い鉄筋コンクリート造の校舎として建て替えられたものである。
震災復興期の小学校建築には、装飾性を加味したスタイルと、機能を重視したインターナショナル・スタイル（国際建築様式）の二つの傾向があったが、この校舎は前者の代表作である。
アーチの付いた出入口、半円形の窓とその窓台、半円形の庇なそ幾何学的な装飾が特徴で、建築様式としては表現主義と呼ばれる。
ビルが林立する中で、今なお往時の景観を残している。

Tokiwa elementary school was opened in 1873. Building that is currently being used is one in which after the Great Kanto Earthquake, it was rebuilt as a school building of reinforced concrete.
